Pantry Makeover
March 03, 2010
Okay let me first say, under no circumstances, are you allowed to look at my gross, old, scary linoleum floor. I know it is not going to be easy, it is like looking at a train wreck that one can not take their eyes off. But just pretend, there is pretty old wood floor instead, which there is under the gross linoleum.
Okay, now that we got that out of the way, you can look at my pantry. I am finally, seeing some light at the end of the tunnel, on my project (will share soon) and am starting to dealing with my scary house. There is nothing like moving furniture around, to make a space feel new. I took my marble table and put it in the kitchen, where the pink table was. It is almost too big for the space, but I am loving it. So I set up this little vignette. I moved the mixer, to the table in the corner and it all still seems to flow fine. I really am surprised how well, this dressers works. It is so perfect for cookie sheets. You might want to look at your dressers in a new light.
Lastly can I brag a bit. I was taking my afternoon bath, perusing through my stack of library books, I had not read Blogging for Bliss, yet. Anyways as I am reading about my good friend Debbie, at Homespun Living, who do I see listed under her favorite reads, me. In a book. You are soo sweet Debbie xox (did you get my thank-you note ??) This book has been out for awhile and I had no clue !!! So if I am in any other books, will you all please let me know ;-P Thank you for letting me brag and have a yummy day xoxoxx
I love your floor! We had that in our summer house in Waldoboro, Maine when I was a kid. Good memories. Thanks for sharing.

I had a floor like that years ago, and I really liked it. Your floor brings back fond memories.

Your pantry is charming and stocked with so many tasty treats. Particularly noted the redwork or do you call it turkeywork embroidery on the left, very nice.

Every spot in your home looks warm and inviting. I love the idea of using an older dresser to store cookie sheets and pans. The window and the view is the very best part.

I LOVE your pantry Clarice! So much charm :) I love the idea of using a dresser for storage in the kitchen (or wherever you like :)) I wish I had room for a real pantry but until then, I will take tips from you and make mine as cute as I can :)
Have a blessed weekend Clarice and thanks for sharing :)

Clarice,
Okay, let me understand...that is your Pantry! ? It is bigger than my whole kitchen. Man I love old houses, unfortunately I live in a very suburban area. Your pantry is quite cool. I got behind on blogging & just read a bunch of your posts. Thanks for the skin care info. I order mine from DHC in Japan. They use all botanical ingredients, lots of olive oil & good stuff too. Anyway, everything looks great. Lisa
PS I'll let you know if I see you in any other books!

I love the look of this space linoleum floor and all.
What a wonderful large window, I enjoy seeing all that green.
I am missing the color of green outside…but soon.

I've always envied your pantry, mines the size of a small linen closet. It looks great, and the floor could be much worse. I've been ripping mine out and painting the concrete underneath.
Kudos to you on a job well done.

I love your pantry but I especially love that gorgeous view from your window. This was a lovely post. I'll be back often to see what you're up to. Have a lovely day. Mary

Clarice,
I had a kitchen floor similar, and I painted it!
It turned out great. I put three or four coats of poly on top. People asked me all the time how I did it.
I used three colors and pounced with newspaper over each dried color.
How could you resist wanting to create a new dish while staring at the beautiful sparkly pantry!
Everything you need in one place, love that too.
Thanks for sharing.

Dear Clarice,
My mom's kitchen floor is just like that! It's better than my dish-breaking tile floor, in my opinion.
Your dresser looks like it fits right in; thanks for more inspiration!
And congratulations on being in a real, live book; that's exciting, for sure.
Love,
Marqueta

It looks great. I like what you did with the dresser. Love, Mom

Your pantry is charming. It reminds me of an oldfashioned kitchen such as Anne of Green Gables or Laura Ingalls Wilder might have had. And like your first poster, I think your linoleum fits the scene perfectly.
Curiosity about your project is building!

Hi!
Well, first of all, it's good to know that I am not the only one with a linoleum floor! And I don't think yours is terrible, it looks like cobblestone!
I just love your pantry, and the dresser idea is so perfect! I would love to do a kitchen re-do, but I don't have all that wonderful room. Your big picture window is also very beautiful - so green and lush outside. Have a perfectly wonderful day!
Blessings, Barb
