A Golden Picnic
October 10, 2009
I know it is a bit late but happy October. Here in WA it has been just beautiful. Very cold mornings, but warm and sunny afternoons. The colors in the trees are starting to turn, the smell of wood smoke in the air and a golden cast in the sun light. We decided to have a fall picnic before we could not picnic anymore. We went to our favorite beach in Seabeck.
A simple tea of carrot flowers, apples, sharp Irish cheddar, bread and my favorite, dates stuffed with cherve` and toasted hazelnuts.
Of course a thermos of hot tea, complete with sugar and milk.
We had a beautiful view of the water and our favorite old house. Nobody was there. It was sooo quite and peaceful. We were ready to move in !!!
The beach was full of pearly oyster shells. We found some with holes to make necklaces. I would say it was a perfect golden tea. If you have not had time, I encourage you to find a pretty place and have a fall tea xoxoxox
A Golden Picnic................
What a gorgeous idea!!! I just love your china and ADORE that thermos :-) My thermos is one of those gray ones not pretty at all.
I hope one fall day to try your idea and get out there and have a Golden Picnic of my own............Thank you so much for sharing!

What a beautiful autumn outdoor tea. I would have loved every moment of it.

This whole beach setting for your picnic tea , provided the most gorgeous backdrop. I love the PNW beaches here in Fall, with all the summer crowds gone it leaves a more personal cozy feel to the air.
The tablecloth, is my favorite Waverly print. I've got a runner with that pattern on my kitchen counter. Finding shells to fashion into necklaces is the perfect party favor.
Sweet wishes,
Sara

OH what a delicious tea! Those dates--yum! We often picnic at Tanglewood, home of the Boston Pops in the Berkshire mountains and the views with the picnic are memory makers:-)

I knew there was a good reason I connect with you. Not only are we both Washington girls but we love the sweet tea with sugar and cream...had a cup last night before bed in fact.
I've just returned from Montana and also a womens conference in Seattle with my daughter. We had the rare opprotunity to see CeCe Wynans in concert. What a gift.

Miss Clarice, you take china on picnics!!! Oh my goodness, I want to come picnic with you in my finest attire, with plumes of airy feathers tucked into the best vintage hat! Oh and could I please arrive in a carriage? Heheh What a beautiful picnic.
As for Apple Day, I just found a recipe on the back of a spice cake mix that has a layer of apple pie filling. It sounds yummy, even if it is only semi-homemade!

I want to know if David went? Or was it just you ladies? What a pretty picnic tea. I wish I could've joined you. You're a wise lady to take advantage of your nice fall weather before things change. We can always count on "change."
