I saw this lamp at the Bainbridge Rotary auction several years ago, for $4.00 and it was love at first site. I will not tell you the story of getting up at 5 am, waiting with thousands of people, to then run, fall and have thousands of people behind me (and to their credit they stopped and helped me up), run though half a large high school to be the first to get my lamp. But it is a true-love story and love always wins out. The only shortcoming (all loves have a short coming) was the shade. Very plain.  Wanting something smashing befitting my all-to-beautiful lamp, I started playing with the shade and this is what I came up with. I had these wonderful ribbon roses and dear friend had hand-died and made for me. I had been hording them for the right project, I am soo glad I did. I just glued some ribbon and the roses on the shade. To add to the rose theme, I had this crochet collar that has these little roses on them. It is hard to see in the picture the but the roses have two rows of petals on them. The collar just slide over the shade. A match made in heaven. This is my lamp next to my side of the bed, on a old doll's changing table that was made by a friend for his daughter. It works great for a side table. So what lamp-shade can you gussy up ????????

Pimped out shades... hmm... that sounds like a challenge...

And here is the difference between you and me: I see what a thing is. You see what a thing could be. You are just so cool : )

That is really nice. I love it in fact. I will have to do something new with the lamp shades on my living room lamps. Hmmmm. Now you've got me thinking!

I bought another one of those self adheasive lampshades to cover. Remember the ones in my kitchen and the ones that Debbie has shown? This one is larger for an old lamp that I found at the thrift store. Just the other day, I came across an old 40's tablecloth that I think will make a nice cover for it. It's stained in a couple of places, so I don't feel too badly about cutting it up. Or, I've been thinking I might use an old fashioned looking tea towel that I found instead. Maybe I will add some rick rack. I'm still pondering it all.
Your lamp turned out perfectly "Clarice"! I love that about it.
