Vintage Sewing Chest
June 12, 2007
I am so excited, I can not even wait till this actually arrives to share it with all of you. Look at this amazing sewing chest I just bought from Lisa at Pink Paint and Roses. Oh my, I am so in-love. I have been wanting a sewing basket. My cigar box is to small, but this is even better. I love how it folds up flat for storage and then opens up, even with it's own little table top you can pull out. Plus is is pink. I drag my sewing all around my house. This will be prefect for that. Thank you Lisa (if you have not seen her charming blog, go check it out !!! ) I will treasure this and thank you ladies for letting me share. Ohh if I can only wait for it to come now !!!!!
Hi,
I have one of these that I want to sell. Mine is older I think. Can you tell me what you paid for it?

That's a very special sewing chest. I'd never seen one like it before today, and here it turns out you and Dawn at 4:53 am both have one! When she saw yours she posted pictures of hers for everyone to see too. They are both really pretty.

Clarice,
What a wonderful unique piece. I absolutely love it!
Clarice, I'm guessing and am probably wrong, but I believe the piece is forty's.
My friend Julie has pieces with the same sticker type decals, and they are all from that period.
Actually who cares! It's a darn great find and will fit perfect in your beautiful home.

Clarice-
I do hope that you love it!
Just to quickly answer your Mom's question...
Mom, I don't think it's handmade. The paint is too perfect. There are no manufacturers marks on it either. If it is handmade they did a beautiful job, lots of detail.
By the way, you have a lovely daughter. Clarice is a wonderful woman and that is a nice reflection of you. Thank you for sharing her with the rest of us.

First of all it's very beautiful painted pink with those little flowers, and how convenient it will be! Love the little table top feature. My grandmother had one very similar that she had made at Home Bureau.
Enjoy!
