Necklace For My Lamp

A friend of mine was giving this lamp away. It is nice and heavy. I like the little table attached. I have plans to overhaul it but still am changing my mind on what I want to do. The shade was cover in stained fabric and I was able to peel the fabric off the shade. But I wanted to bling up the shade a bit with something temporary till I decide what I am going to do.

First I found and old piece of lace and tied it on with some ribbon you cannot see.

Then I started playing with old and broken jewelry I'v kept. I took a black bead necklace, added a charm bracelet. I use the clap on one side to hook onto the necklace and  jump-ring on the other side. Then I added a big pin on each side. One pin is broken, so I use a jump ring again to attach it. The other pin I can pull off, wear and pin it right back. Lastly I took a length of chain and add it to make the "necklace" go all the way around the shade and hook together in the back. I just used more jump-rings and a clasp.

What I love most about this project, is when I get sick of it, I can take it all apart and still have my jewelry pieces. All I am out is a few jump rings, which cost me pennies. So do you  have a bunch of old, broken jewelry you could maybe refashion into something?? I have another project with old jewelry I will share soon xoxox

Thank you for all the well wishes, I am still not well but Oregon went fine. Though I am glad we got a hotel room. It was fun, I got to meet family I have never met before. Sadly my husband could not be there but he is now. My mother-in-love was so surprised and cried so hard, we started to worry we would have to take her to the hospital.

Things I Love

I am in OR right now for a few days, a surprise anniversary party for my in-laws. Hopefully all will be well, I have been battle a stomach flu all week. I am living on herb tea and my homemade elderberry syrup from the freezer (so glad I made that). I can not believe am sick. None of us have been sick for like 2 years. But look at the killer shoes I got at Ross, $12, instead of $60. I love the polk-dot heels !!!

I hope you are having a lovely weekend and are not sick. Here is another list of things I love to keep you busy while I am gone and remember to eat something yummy and think of me xoxoxo

Chocolate Sunshine

My mother has been making a lot of yummy dishes out of almond flour and they are really good. I have to say part of it is because of this flour. We tasted tested several almond flours and this was by far the best. It was Paula who told us about it,  thank you Paula xoxox

I love it because it is so easy. It is NOT cheap but is very easy to work with. Also a nice gluten alternative. I made these little treats the other day and they were a big hit. I do not know you but I would rather have a little bit of something amazing, then a whole lot of so-so.

I do not usually use my microwave to cook in but I have found it make a really good and easy lemon curd. I do add more zest then it calls for but that is what I like. Remember suit your palette. Also run the curd through a sieve to catch any lumps. Lemon curd keeps for a good week and is a nice thing to have on-hand, for a last minute dessert. Just add some fruit and yumm.

I also love this recipe because you can make the curd up to a week ahead, the crust takes a minute to put together. It is an oil crust, so it is just mix and go. If you want more chocolate on your crust, just use more. It is easy to let the heat do all the work. I tell you almond crust+dark chocolate+lemon curd=heaven

Chocolate Sunshine

1 batch of almond crust or regular crust, by the way I used olive oil, instead of grape seed

bittersweet chocolate

microwave lemon curd

Press small balls of dough into the bottom of muffin tins and up the sides  a bit. Bake according to directions. As soon as you pull crusts from oven, set chocolate on hot crusts. Wait five minutes and let chocolate melt. Then with a spatula spread chocolate. Let completely cool and fill with curd, top with a berry.

Akkk, I just do not have a lot to share right night. I have been busy but not with things I can share. What have I been up to? Well Chloe turned 14, we celebrated her birthday this week. She is very into american girl dolls right now. She saved her money for six months a bought her own. So this year is an american girl birthday. Happy birthday sweetie xoxoxo

I have been taking lots of photos for the secret project. This is one I took that I decided it not right but I am sharing it with you.

My father is coming to visit in a couple of weeks and my house is a bomb, so I am trying to clean. DO I dare confess, I have not spring decorated at all. I just do not care. Shock. I am too lost in this project and it is taking wayyyyyyyyyyyy longer then I ever imagine it to. I am waiting for one thing and then I will hopefully share.

One thing I am into is clothes. Even though it is not very spring like here I am having fun looking at dresses, sling-back wedge shoes, little cardigans, I am thinking of making some flowery jewelry, ect.

So what have you been up to?? Is your house all done up for spring or are you working on some fun craft ?? I hope I am the only unmotivated person around here xoxox
