Foxglove

Foxglove

I taste a liquor never brewed,
From tankards scooped in pearl;
Not all the vats upon the Rhine
Yield such an alcohol!

Inebriate of air am I,
And debauchee of dew,
Reeling, through endless summer days,
From inns of molten blue.

When landlords turn the drunken bee
Out of the foxglove's door,
When butterflies renounce their drams,
I shall but drink the more!

Till seraphs swing their snowy hats,
And saints to windows run,
To see the little tippler
Leaning against the sun!

Emily Dickinson

My garden is so lush this spring with all the rain we have had. My foxglove is huge. I do not have a lot of flowers in my garden. I like to garden but confess I would rather cook. But a took a couple of pictures of what little I have. I am soooooo in love with these double pink columbine. Isn't this painting buy Marni Mareeamazing. I just love it.

Oh Clarice! I especially like the first picture of the two Foxgloves standing together and looking into your window. Beautiful!

Calrice, I just love flowers....mine are large due to all the rain also. I have many yet to bloom but I have NO foxgloves...will they grow from seeds???? Love your site!

Beautiful painting; foxglove are one of my favorites. When I was out in the garden this morning I saw one of mine is getting ready to bloom, however some seem to be missing. Your flowers are very pretty~they do look English cottagey!

Foxglove *is* my favourite flower! I am so glad that you let us peek in your garden Clarice! I can get a feel of the Pacific West when I look at your place!
This is one of my favourite watercolour floral artists. Hope you don't mind me sharing it here:

How beautiful Clarice! Your home and it's garden remind me of an English cottage garden, my favorite kind.
Lovely photos.
I love foxgloves.
